I am a Associate Professor with a chair in Sociology of Cultural Processes and Comunication (SPS/08) in the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage at the University Ca' Foscari in Venice.

My research interests are mainly on issues of gender, ethnicity, labour and migration, with a specific focus on the question of paid domestic work and home-care service.

I am trying to understand contemporary transformations in labour, family and mobility by focussing on migrants and women who work in private households. The stories of these workers and of their employers can tell us a lot about how our societies have been changing through time.

In the next four years (2016-2020), I will expand on these issues thanks to the project "DomEQUAL: A Global Approach to Domestic Work and Social Inequalities" funded by a ERC Starting Grant, and hosted by Ca' Foscari University in Venice. The project includes research in 9 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Please visit the project's website and follow our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
